Membership

The ASBA membership year is October 1st to September 30th.  

To enjoy the privileges of membership, members must have paid their dues to the association for the current year. The benefits of being an official member in the American Southdown Association are many. 

Adult/Family/Farm Membership - $20.00 Annually

A paid adult/family/farm membership is required to:
  1. Register sheep with the ASBA ** 
  2. Vote at the ASBA Annual meeting held in Louisville, KY each fall during the North American International Livestock Exposition. Topics voted on typically include: 
  3. Judge selection for National Junior Show and National Show. 
  4. Director positions - these are positions that represent the membership on topics important to the breed and its members. 
  5. Receive the Annual Southdown Journal and NAILE Preview publications
  6. Post classified ads on the ASBA website
  7. Receive special "member only" communications from the ASBA office on topics that are urgent and important to the breed

Junior Membership  (Juniors are 21 years of age and under as of the first of the calendar year)  - $10 Annually

A paid Junior Membership is required to: 
  1. Register sheep with the ASBA **
  2. Apply for AJSA Ambassador positions
  3. Apply for ASBA Scholarships
  4. Participate in the ASBA Pot 'O Gold Futurity
  5. Participate in the National Junior Show
  6. Receive special "member only" communications from the ASBA office on topics that are urgent and important to Juniors in the breed

** Either an Adult/Family/Farm or Junior membership is required in order to register sheep with the ASBA.
